Resume 履歷表

1. Not too long - half page, 2 page at most.

2. Clear and organized - Work experience, education, skills, qualifications

3. Sell yourself - Think yourself as a product and sell it hard to the employers.

 

Samples:

Current job: Manage a staff of 12.... (去主詞，表現在式)

Former jobs: Worked in a ... （過去式開頭）

 

Use "headlines": Objective, Profile, etc., to catch the reader's eye in the first place.

Use "bullet point".

Incomplete sentences are OK in resumes, but NOT OK in cover letters.

The sequence of exp, edu listing: current -> past.

Action words: plan/help/prepare/organize (sounds more aggressive)

 

Cover letters 求職信

Brief introduction to resume - short and direct.

Include information about the company - write out the name of the person if possible(裝熟)

Having a strong finish - Please just accept my application.

 

Examples:

"My skills and qualifications will be a asset to the company."

 

!!!

No fixed format - choose your own style for resumes and cover letters.

DON'T make grammar and spelling errors.

DON'T create a messy, hard-to-read resume or letter.

DON'T lies.

MAKE IMPRESSION.

Writing skills:

1. Master grammar structures

2. READ!!! - newspaper - 培養「洋味」

3. Keep English diary

 

Oral skills:

1. Get a very simple 會話書

2. 重學發音 - KK音標，一天兩個音，重複兩三個月

3. 翻譯法 - 聽到中文就翻成英文

4. 描述法 - 看到東西就說

5. 自言自語法......

 

Reading:

1. 一篇文章，不查字典，一次念完，心中中英同步翻譯。

2. 查字典 - 抄下每個定義、每個例句

3. Read again - 將篇章大致翻譯成中文

4. Repeat - 用英文重複念，直到速度提升

5. 用自己的英文將文章重述一遍

 

Listening:

每天聽英文廣播

 

Dictionary: 朗文

 

Be ambitious, enthusiastic, 不要三分鐘熱度，學學大陸老奶奶的精神，78歲開始學英文，80歲能說"You encourage me to learn English."

不要害怕犯錯，靠大量練習與閱讀自己糾正錯誤。
